Maintenance and Operations Pathway

The Maintenance and Operations pathway contains a variety of careers based on specific knowledge, skills, and necessary educational requirements. Those who enter careers in this pathway have strong interests in doing very physical work, especially working with their hands using equipment and tools. They also enjoy being both indoors and outdoors. They like setting up equipment or machines and checking them to make sure they are working properly. They may do installation or maintenance work and test or inspect parts and systems, diagnose, adjust, repair, and replace components, or perform various procedures to maintain equipment and keep it running smoothly. These handy-men and handy-women keep on top of all the possible break-downs that could make life uncomfortable for us, and are the front-line experts to fix the problems when those break-downs happen, night or day!
